WANTO 6^th Year Grant—Awarded September 1999

Northern New England Tradeswomen (NNET) will provide technical assistance to nine identified employers, and coordinate technical assistance projects for a broader cross-section of the construction industry with the Vermont State Apprenticeship Council, and the Vermont Construction Careers Council to help prepare individual employers and industry representatives to successfully recruit, train, and retain women in apprenticeable positions in the construction trades. NNET will develop and institutionalize a one-on-one mentoring program for women hired by the participating employers to provide personal support in their first year of employment.

NNET, has been a nationally recognized leader in developing and delivering STEP UP for Women and other programming that successfully prepares and places women in skilled trades positions for the past 15 years. Northern New England Tradeswomen is a member of WOW's National Workforce Network.

Scheduled project completion date: November 1999.
