The National Council of La Raza

WANTO 2nd Year Grant—Awarded September 1995

The Council of La Raza (NCLA) in collaboration with the Institute for Women in Trades, Technology and Science and two NCLA affiliates—Chicanos Por La Causa and Youth Development, Inc.—conducted a four-phase program in Arizona and New Mexico. The phases included:

  1. Assessment of need;
  2. Development of implementation strategies;
  3. Technical assistance and implementation of customized strategies;and,
  4. Employer institutionalization of intensive customized technical assistance for employers and labor organizations on how to successfully integrate particularly Hispanic women into male-dominated occupations in their workplaces.

Outcomes

Technical Assistance
La Raza and its collaborators provided technical assistance to 10 employers and labor unions.
