WANTO 1st Year Grant—Awarded September 1994

The Tradeswomen of Purpose/Women in Non-Traditional Work, Inc. (TOP/WIN) in partnership with the International Union of Operating Engineers:

  1. provided gender/cultural diversity training to local IUOE staff, members and apprentices, based on the local's specific issues with managing a diverse workforce; and
  2. developed strategies to recruit women into the IUOE's local apprenticeship program
  3. developed a Survival Skills Handbook.

Outcomes

Technical Assistance
TOP/WIN provided 29 sessions of the "Gender/Cultural Diversity Workshop", using the Workplace Diversity: Achieving a Unified Workforce Trainer's Manual under contract with DOL. The workshops provided training to 11 different locals of the International Union of Operating Engineers, reaching 483 persons.
