Women in the Building Trades, in partnership with the Boston Enhanced Enterprise Community and in collaboration with the Springfield Technical High School and the Springfield Enhanced Enterprise Community , provided technical assistance to 10 employers in manufacturing, transportation and information technology industries. The goal was to train and place 25 women residing in the Boston and Springfield Massachusetts Enhanced Enterprise Communities into nontraditional jobs and refer an additional 20 women to the Apprenticeship Preparedness Program of the Central Artery/Tunnel Training program and the Construction Industries Training Assistance Program in Springfield.

Women in the Building Trades has provided pre-apprenticeship preparation and training since 1986. It promotes the entrance of women into blue-collar fields in an effort to help women earn higher pay and achieve economic viability.
