Megajobs for Women

Women In Non-Traditional Employment Roles' (WINTER) WANTO project, Megajobs for Women is providing technical assistance to employers and unions to promote women in apprenticeship and nontraditional occupations on large construction projects, including going working relationship with Southern California mega projects which include:

  1. Metro Rail;
  2. Hyperion Water Treatment Plant;
  3. San Diego Water Treatment Plant;
  4. Ronald Reagan Court House; and
  5. Seven Oaks Dam.

As of March 1998, the project is pending completion.

Pending Outcomes

Technical Assistance
MegaJobs for Women will provide a client with 40 hours a month of technical assistance, with a goal of reaching about 50 clients over a one-year period.

Products

  1. Manual—A "user-friendly" manual of one-page practical "stand-alone tools" that can be copied and used to do technical assistance in the field. The manual is being developed and will be disseminated in both English and Spanish.
  2. Support Groups and Training—Monthly tradeswomen support group meetings, training education and career development training
  3. Hotline—WINTER maintains a job hot line
  4. Newsletter—monthly newsletter
  5. Speaker's Bureau
