WANTO 5th Year Grant—Awarded September 1998

Women Work!, in partnership with the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), will provide technical assistance to a minimum of 60 employers on how to integrate recruitment, training and retention of low income women as of information technology employer’s hiring practices.

Women Work! will conduct the project in four sites, including a site in an Empowerment Zone/Enterprise Community, where partnerships with the local ITAA and local employment and training providers will work together to place low-income women in high wage, high growth areas with information technology employers. Such jobs include network specialist, technical support staff, wiring and cabling technicians, information systems operator/analyst, database administration associate, etc.

For 20 years, Women Work! (formerly the Displaced Homemakers Network) has been actively engaged in efforts to help women achieve economic self-sufficiency by training for high wage jobs. Women Work! is a member of WOW's National Workforce Network.
